 Albuquerque N/Bernalillo KOA Journey Campground

After we left Carlsbad we travelled to Albuquerque, NM and stayed at another KOA campground. I think God blessed us with the best campsite in the place. It was at the end with more space then most of the other spots. We even had one of the few shade trees in the campground.  It was a very nice facility and not to far from Albuquerque. We relaxed the first night.

This was the view from our campsite. Those are Sandia Mountains due south of the southern range of the Rockies

The next day we took a trip into Albuquerque and took a trolley tour of the city. It was the very first trolley tour since Covid. Our tour guide was wonderful. She told of about three things that Albuquerque has that no one expects and they are a beach in the desert, palace and a castle in the city. We had a great tour of the city. Here are some of the pictures we were able to get.

We even travelled on historic Route 66

After the trolley ride we took a walk through Old Town

One of the things we learned that there are dormant volcanos in New Mexico. The ones we saw on our tour was the sleeping sisters.

Then we decided to get a closer look and also get another sticker in our Passport book.

On our way to our next destination we had another surprise National Park that was in our Passport so we took a side trip to Fort Union, the fort that protected those travelling on the Santa Fe Trail.

You can still see some of the ruts from the Santa Fe Trail

We continued on to our next destination
